this is weird
Okay this is weird, I've never blogged before and I think maybe I'm doing it wrong - I hope I've gone to the right site and not talladega nights or something. If this is the right place - this is julianne moore [posting as Bart] and I am in barcelona, shooting a movie called savage grace. I have 2 more weeks and then I come home. I'm very excited about the opening of trust the man - I loved making this movie. It was wonderful to shoot at home in new york with all of our friends and just about every family member we could round up. and I loved playing a character that I don't think you get to see that often - ( or I don't anyway) a woman with a family who just happens to have a job acting. Kind of like me and alot of my friends! bart was wonderful to work with, and the script was so funny - my biggest disappointment was that some of the funniest stuff ended up not being in the movie - like david and his vibrating balls, and me and billy and the hamster incident. and oddly - maggie has ended up pregnant and i'm doing a play in the fall.
maybe bart is psychic.

Hi Julianne!
Welcome to cyberspace! Great to hear from you. From everything Bart and David have said, this movie sounds like it's a riot. It also sounds like you guys had a criminal amount of fun making it! Maybe all of those scenes you mentioned will end up on the DVD....
Hope the movie opens near me! Can't wait to see it!
Namaste,
Jenny

Hi Julianne
Great to hear from you.
I am wishing that TTM to be released in my country.
The film looks great!!
I hope that you have a little time to enjoy our city. Perhaps you love to recommend it to your friends, mayve to DD? ;)
Good luck with your play in the fall.
Best from Barcelona.

hi julianne!
i totally agree with LaLa - you are doing great for a first time blogger...! ;)
i saw the "hamster incident" blooper on youtube - and to be honest: i am kinda glad this won't be in the movie - as i have a little, tiny and cuty hamster myself - and ohhh, i don't want to even think about him dying or being "murdered"... ;)
i am still in a state of shock - but maybe i will be able to laugh about it when it comes out as a DVD extra (?)
anyway: good to hear from you though!
keep it up - and take care!

Hello, Julianne.
I just want to say that I LOVE YOUR WORK. I think you´re one of the best actress nowadays and I´ve never felt disappointed by your films. I mean, it´s not just you´re great but you´ve got the intelligence and/or instict to choose good films.
I´ll try to watch both films. Well...I just will do it.
Hope you write often. Nice to read you.
By the way, I´m spanish (sorry for my english)
(Just one little thing: I love your Sarah in "The end of the affair", just a little more than the rest.)
Hugs.

Hi Julianne!
You're doing fine blogging... except posting the same message 3 times. *laughs* Don't worry about it.
We know about David's vibrating balls, but it's the first time I hear about a hamster incident! Do tell!
Have a great time in Barcelona, and please post again!

At least we can't miss this post, lol. So great you are on the blog too Julianne. Isn't this exciting? The scenes with you and DD were so funny (well I only saw the clips of course, but still) and the mo(o)re (hehehe) I read about it, the more I wanna see it. But being in Holland we'll probably get it next year. Great to see you post too, even it's three times the same one, LOL.

Hey it's wonderful you went and posted on here Julianne! Don't worry about the thing turning up on here three times. Most of us who are X Files fans are used to cloning! LOL!
This sounds like such a great feel good movie, and it's fun that you made it with family and friends. Must have made it that extra special.
We do know one happily married woman who is an actress and has a family - Tea Leoni. :-)
I agree about the scenes that sadly had to be cut. But I get the feeling we'll see 'em on the DVD?
Nothing wrong with being married to a phsychic husband. I have one who has an uncanny knack of predicting stuff, good and bad.
Oh and I'd just like to add that one of my favourite movies of yours is 'Safe'. I mentioned more about it on one of Bart's posts on here. It just really grabbed me. You played the part so well, underplayed yet you could read every emotion in your eyes. Fantastic!
Now I look forward to seeing TTM very much.
Good Luck with this children's book you are publishing, and the play on Broadway (Bart mentioned these.) :-)
Take Care

Welcome to the blog, Julianne! Thanks for taking time out in Barcelona to write to us. As you can tell, there are many of us who are eager to see this movie, once it finally moves past those "select cities" and opens more widely. Now that you know how to blog, feel free to write again!

Yo Bart!!!
Posted by: Linda61 | August 14, 2006 01:26 PM
What's weird is that while I take a minute to think how to put into words my huge admiration to you as an actress and to thank you for all your great performances that touched me deeply in movies such as -just mentioning a couple- 'Magnolia', or 'The End of the Affair' (ah, there, I guess that does it LoL),
I just blinked and oops! something's different in that post. Are you editing the post right now Julliane? (Bart maybe? o_O ) heheh
I hope you enjoy your first experience in theatre and I wish i could witness your great talent on stage (does 'Vanya on 42th Street' count as a small glimpse of what it could be like?!), but since that's impossible for me, I'll just enjoy your film projects and what's next to come. 'Trust the man' looks like a great feel-good and funny movie, looking forward to it.
Me-posting as..myself ;-)
*just thought to keep up teasing... Shame on you -and me- guys! LoL*
Thank you Julliane :-)

Welcome to the blog Julianne. This is my first time posting here. So I wish you all a lot of success with the movie. I think it will take ages until it comes out here in Germany. But we won't give up hope. Unfortunately I had to move away from NY last month. I would have loved to see it in the cinema. Is there already a release date for Germany?
wishing you, Bart, David and the rest of the crew all the best.

Hi Julianne
Welcome to the blog world. After you do the first post it becomes easier. Last year when David did his blog it took me a bit to just figure out how to register to post a comment. I have been a fan for so long. I first saw you on As the World Turns. Thanks for taking time out to do the post and hope that the movie does really well. It looks like something different from just your standard romantic comedy. Like the others mentioned I look forward to the DVD to see the scenes that didn't make it. Sometimes when we watch a movie it seems that some of the funniest stuff is cut. Thank goodness for DVD extras. Hope your two weeks go quickly.

Julianne, I'm glad you decided to get your feet wet on the blog. It's so nice that this type of communication exists.
I have a feeling that the scenes where "Tom" is looking up at "Rebecca" on stage, and then we see him on stage with her, is where I will go nuts! I just love that stuff!
I hope you and Bart enjoy Barcelona and all that unbelievable Gaudi architecture.
Come blog again soon!

I've been following your career since about 1987. When you played a college grad AND her half-sister/cousin at the same time, I knew you were a talented actress!
Here's hoping Trust the Man is a resounding success and gets the recognition it deserves.
Hopefully it will be in a theatre near me on September 8!
As for any nervousness about blogging, just picture yourself narrating several characters' lives in a novel, with you as both writer and a principal character. Down inside, we're all basically alike, and there's no good or bad rating for blogs. At least not that I know of.

Hi Juli :)
Here is some love from Denmark (if you know, the little piece of a country in Europe):
This is the first time, that I'm writing 'something' to you, and it's a honor for me.
A lot of times, I had started on a letter to you, but every time I'd finish them, I jugd 'em to being to bad for you ;D
But someday, I believe that I would have one finish, and you'll get it (I hope so!!)
I want to say to you, that you are a super talented actress, and from my view, the best in the world.
You are a front model, for me, and I dream about to own a talent like you one day. You're the reason for that I want to be a actor.
Never forget, Juli:
You are the Queen of Hollywood ;D
I'll always look up to you.
My Deepest love,
Rasmus Joergensen

My first venture into blog world as well.
Just wanted to wish you, Bart, Billy, Tim and evryone involved good luck on the film. It looks really great.
I worked with Bart and above on World Traveler and I can honestly say they are the nicest people. Cool, down to earth and respectful to everyone on the crew, no B.S. I don't work in the industry anymore but I do look back on World Traveler as one of the best jobs I was fortunate to be a part of.

So, here's a question for either of you director types (DD or Bart) regarding the cut scenes that are such a sought after feature on the dvd for fans - I hope this comes out right - I was wondering, as an artist/director if either of you have any qualms/feelings et al regarding the inclusion of sections you have cut from the final film? I was thinking about it in terms of artistic expression and the film being a final piece presented as the artist desires - much like a painting or other piece of work.....specifically I was thinking about Polanski's The Tenant and how the inclusion of those 'extras' might have impacted my own involvment in the film - such is the musings of my mind when I'm out running.......

Hi Julianne,
The movie looks great & very funny too! I luv that u and David did another movie together. I loved u guys in Evolution. It's about time David did another movie too, I love him (X-Files junkie). I know, his fans can never go w/o mentioning that darn show! So those scenes u said got cut sound pretty funny- vibrating balls- was sad to hear that they did.
Anyway, love ur work too, especially Nine Months & Hannibal. Haven't seen any of ur more recent movies, but hope to get around to it soon. I was suprised (not in a bad way) to read in the bios section u r married to Bart. I was wondering y uve done so many movies with him. Didn't know if u were married or not and now u have kids. Hope they're not too much 4 ya!
Well, good luck with the film. I wish it wasn't out for another 3 weeks, I'm gonna c it right away!
God Bless,
Luv Rachel

Hey Julianne,
its so great to hear you shooting "SAVAGE GRACE". I actually thought this film would never be realized because it was in pre production for years... and your character in "SAVAGE GRACE" is so different to "TRUST THE MAN"... good luck in barcelona, I'm so excited to see "TTM", "CHILDREN OF MEN", "SAVAGE GRACE", "I'M NOT HERE", "NEXT" and so on... (I'm from germany so I have to wait a little bit...)
Julianne, you're the best american actress at this time. Especially you're gorgeos and magnificant and and terrific in "FAR FROM HEAVEN". And, not to forget, The Hours, Magnolia, Short Cuts, End Of An Affair, The Forgotten and so on.....

Hi Julianne!
This is really Julianne Moore who posted? Wow. How exciting and wonderful (I guess I'm more excited about you than about David or Bart... haha).
I don't suppose you're reading all the comments on here (I don't think I would if I wee you, there are so many!). But I just wanted to say that I'm a big fan of yours and I think you've been great in so many films, especially Boogie Nights and Safe and Far From Heaven. I'm so happy you're finally filming Savage Grace, as I too was afraid it might never get made. It looks like it could be really fabulous. In fact, a lot of your upcoming films look great. I'm so excited!
And how fun that you'll be in play. I'd read that you hadn't done any theater since you started getting film work. I'll try and see it if I can!
Sorry, if you reading, that I've been gushing so, I'm just a big fan. Lotsa love,

Hey - This is awesome! Just saw the movie at 1:15 AM in Times Square. Very funny, sweet and some parts were kind of sad too. My husband and I loved it. What an amazing ensemble. It's Pretty cool to see all you guys blogging.

Hi,
I've just found out this blog (I'm soooo late!), and I've read a few entries, it seems interesting. I thought I should comment, but I wasn't sure on which entry, so I chose yours, Julianne.
About Trust the Man... first, sorry for my english, I'm french... so, anyway, the movie. It's a good one, I really had a good time watching it. Even if many scenes are rather cliché, they are well done, and I guess the actors/actresses are the reason that we can't not love them.
The home dad -David Duchovny- being all brave at his daddy job, and really good at it, but missing his wife at some point... and I guess he's representing a lot of housewives, and that was really great to show it in a modern way, with dad at home, mom at work.
And his wife who seems happy, and I think she really was, I mean she has great children, and a great husband... well, they were a perfect couple, with successful life, successful work, etc. Even if it was a little too much perfect perhaps... but I guess it's been done on purpose to show that you can have great love life, a great family, a great work, and still have issues, and that you have to work hard everyday to preserve it. That you may make mistakes, and all you have to do then is to admit you made mistakes and will make them again, but it's needed to continue our life, to grow up, to be better human-beings... Everyone makes mistakes, and because you make mistakes too, you have to be able to forgive others for theirs.
Tobey may somehow be the opposite of Rebecca... isn't he ? Not as lucky in life... or maybe he actually is lucky, but he's too afraid to admit, and by consequence has more difficulties to reach the differents steps of life. And finally, we realized that even if at first we can think that Rebecca and Tobey are different, they are same, we're all the same in our life, going through a lot of similar issues, and we may resolve them differently, after all Tobey were right : we're all gonna die anyway. But the point of this is even if the end is the same for everyone, and even if life may be really hard sometimes, we have to fight for it, and not think about the end, but about how long it's gonna last and how great it's gonna be. Tobey fought, Elaine didn't as much... but I guess she needed him to be stronger (she proved she needed him, that she needed his advice for her children book, to trust herself).
Anyway, that's what I thought of Trust the Man. Maybe I'm totally wrong, and Bart Freudlich didn't want at all to show these things, but he did somehow. And I like to find hidden meanings in movies. Like secret messages to give us hope... Nope, I'm not desperate, only maybe a little bit too much a dreamer.
I like thinking that this kind of movie is made to let us know that it doesn't matter what our life is, it could be worse. And even if it could be better too, we have to love it for what it is. The movie gives you smile on your face at the very end, and that proves it's a good one. In my humble opinion at least, it's really subjective. Some won't like it probably.
If I should say something that I didn't like in the movie, it would be how easily Tom falls for another woman... I mean, Rebecca has been stronger with Jasper, and she was really attracted by him (because she felt Tom didn't care as much as before for her, she needed to be loved). And since he's married too, Tom should have been stronger. But he's probably weaker... so, forgivable.
Anyway, I hope the DVD will be released in France soon... any idea ?
... I hope my "review" wasn't too much boring or... wrong. And sorry again for my english.
Well, thank you for this movie, I hope you'll do other ones, Bart. It's really cool you have a blog to talk about your movie yourself, and that Julianne and David post on it too. That's great. I really like what you do.
Love from France, take care,
M.A.
